Seoul Trail Course #5 and #6

16 November 2014 | Seoul Trail | Trail Running | 19km – 3:25 Hours

image1aSeoul Dulegil (Seoul Trail) is a 157km trail with 8 Courses that goes around the City of Seoul that fully opened to the public yesterday on November 15, 2014.

Today, November 16 we decided to meet up with a few running buddies and start at Course #5  (Sadang Station). All you have to do when you exit the subway station is follow these little arrows. They are either on lamp poles in the city or individually placed on the trail like seen below.

image9 copyimage2aAfter 21km we ended up at Guil Station. The 21km run took us 3:51 hours. The first 13 km were all on trails and the last 8km was near Anyangcheon Stream walk path, nice and flat.

The city said it will issue certificates to those who complete all of the eight courses and get the rubber stamps from the 27 stamping stations made from recycled mailboxes along the trail. Can’t wait to get ours!

These trails are perfect for exercise but also good for viewing nearby cultural and historical sites. All entrances and exits are within a short walking distance to 23 major subway stations for easy access.

In our 21km run, we came across three stamp booths. Here is one of them:

image3The two courses we ran today weren’t for novice runners. They’re best attempted by intermediate or master runners. While not too technical the distance and some of the climbs were challenging. Also you really have to pay close attention to the markers or you will get lost or have to back-track for missed turns.
