In Italy, Gabriele Falloppio authored the first-known published description of condom use, describing his tesing on avoiding syphilis.

Legend has it that Charles II commissioned Dr. Contom, who came up with a sheath made from animal intestine to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and preventing illegitimate children.

The first mass prodcution rubber condom was produced.

Julius Fromm perfected the production of condoms by dipping glass bulbs into the raw rubber solution, resulting in thinner, seamless, more elastic condoms, though non reusable.
Fromms was the first branded condom in the world, was is still popular in Germany today.
